Guest: How much should i invest in MF if i earn 30k per month? Have a medical Insurance of 2lac/yr from employer and does not need a term insurance now.

Dr. Renu Pothen: If you wish to know how much to invest into mutual funds then you should first of all see what are the goals that you have to achieve in a stipulated time period. Estimate the surplus that you would require to achieve the goals and then accordingly invest a particular amount every month into mutual funds.

Harshavardhanc: Hi Renu, My Age is 32, with current investment in Equity - Debt MFs @ 40-60%, with all the investments in good Crisil rated funds and well diversified. and continuing SIPs of around 30K. Will you advise me to change the proportion to 60-40 Equity to Debt?

Dr. Renu Pothen: You need to change the equity debt proportion in your portfolio depending on your risk profile. If you are a moderately aggressive then your equity: debt allocation can be 60:40.

nitin7475: Hi !! Good Morning Invested 1 Lakh in Birla Sun Life Dynamic Retail fund - Growth with short term view. whats you opinion... Thanks.

Dr Renu Pothen:Birla Dynamic Bond Fund is one of the best performing dynamic bond funds. You can invest into the same with a time horizon of 2 to 3 years.

Guest: How to know which the good mutual funds to invest. how to purchase online. For mutual do we need Demat account. thanks
Dr Renu Pothen: You should include mutual funds in your portfolio depending on the risk profile, goals and time horizon that you have to achieve the goals. As far as selection of mutual funds are concerned, you should filter them on the basis of qualitatitive and quantitative factors like performance, expense ratio, risk, track record of the fund manager ,are they following mandates as given in SID,etc. If you are purchasing the funds through an online platform then you do not require a demat account.
